Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has alleged that a coordinated group of detractors is using the current situation involving his wife, actress Regina Daniels, to blackmail and damage his reputation.
The lawmaker made this claim in a statement released by his Communication and Technical Action Team on Monday in Abuja, amid reports of alleged marital tension between him and the Nollywood star.
According to Nwoko, individuals who have targeted him for years are now “criminalising” him before the international community through false narratives.
“Those exploiting the condition of a young woman who is unwell and has admitted to using drugs will eventually face justice,” Nwoko stated.

He dismissed allegations that he illegally acquired land in his hometown, saying he was legally allocated the property to establish the Sports University of Nigeria, which currently serves his community.
Nwoko further claimed that Regina had a documented history of substance use and mental health treatment before their marriage, citing available medical records and her own past admissions.
He accused unnamed individuals of manipulating Regina to settle old scores and discredit his political achievements.
“If she had any secrets to reveal, she would have done so by now. All these stories being circulated are fabricated and amount to criminal defamation,” he said.
Addressing concerns about the timeline of his marriage to the actress, Nwoko clarified that Regina was 19 years old when they married, not 17, and that her family fully consented to the union.

“Our customs do not frown upon polygamy. I married her honourably and treated her with love and dignity. It is painful to see my marriage turned into a tool for political blackmail,” he added.
Nwoko described the controversy as a politically motivated witch-hunt, alleging that his opponents were exploiting Regina’s vulnerability to attack his public image and derail his developmental work as a senator.
