Late Arrival of Officials Delays Voting at Polling Units 004 and 047 in Kubwa

Voting experienced further delays in parts of Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja, as electoral officials arrived behind schedule at some polling units on Saturday morning.

At Polling Unit 004, officials arrived at about 9:42 a.m., nearly two hours after the expected commencement time. As of their arrival, voting had not yet begun, with voters already gathered at the unit waiting to cast their ballots.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Presiding Officer at the polling unit, Ereh Patience, confirmed the late arrival. She said the team encountered “some circumstances” that caused the delay but did not disclose further details.

Similarly, at Polling Unit 047, officials arrived at approximately 9:50 a.m., leaving voters waiting before accreditation and voting could commence.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier assured voters of a smooth and timely process. However, the late deployment of officials at the affected units has raised concerns among residents about the overall coordination of the exercise.

As of the time of filing this report, arrangements were being put in place to begin the accreditation and voting process at both polling units.
