The Presidency has blamed contractors handling the Benin-Agbor-Asaba Expressway for the poor condition of the road, following reports that commuters were stranded for several days.
Speaking in a televised interview on Wednesday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the Federal Government had responded swiftly to the situation after receiving complaints from road users.
Government orders immediate intervention
Dare said key stakeholders were deployed to the affected section of the expressway, while the contractor was directed to take immediate action to address the situation.
He maintained that the incident should not be used as a reflection of the overall performance of federal road projects across the country.

According to Dare, several federal roads have either been completed or are progressing without similar complaints, stressing that the government remains committed to improving road infrastructure nationwide.
The Benin-Agbor-Asaba Expressway has, however, continued to attract public concern over its condition, particularly after commuters reportedly spent days trapped on the route.
