The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has rejected claims that it has withdrawn support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, distancing itself from a statement issued by a group known as the Arewa APC Forum.
The forum, in a statement signed by its state chairman, Sallah Hakilu Kibiya, had announced that it was pulling support for Tinubu after what it described as extensive consultations and a review of governance at the federal level.
It accused the administration of nepotism, incompetence and corruption, stating that it could no longer support the government in good conscience.

“Leadership must inspire confidence, uphold fairness, and show a genuine commitment to national unity, institutional integrity and responsible governance,” the group said.
It added that continued silence in the face of perceived shortcomings would amount to complicity and directed its members to align with its new position in future political activities.
However, the Kano APC dismissed the claims, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, said the so-called forum is not recognised within the party’s structure and does not represent its members in the state.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement said.
“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.”
The party reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu and urged members of the public to disregard statements capable of creating tension or mischief.
The development points to growing political tension as alignments begin to shift ahead of the next election cycle, particularly within the party’s northern support base.
