The Kano State chapter of the Arewa APC Forum has pulled its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition, raising concerns over governance and the direction of leadership.
In a statement dated April 17, 2026, the group said the decision followed extensive consultations and a review of the situation at the federal level.
It said it could no longer continue to support the administration, citing allegations of nepotism, incompetence and corruption.

“Leadership must inspire confidence, uphold fairness, and show a genuine commitment to national unity, institutional integrity and responsible governance,” the statement said.

Northern Forum Urges Members to Follow Direction
The forum added that when such values are repeatedly undermined, remaining silent would amount to complicity.
It also announced that it had withdrawn confidence in the current political direction and urged its members to align with the new position in future political activities.
The statement was signed by the forum’s Kano State chairman, Sallah Hakilu Kibiya.
The development suggests emerging divisions within the All Progressives Congress support base, particularly in the North, as political alliances begin to shift ahead of the next election cycle.
