Judges of the Federal High Court are scheduled to commence their 2025 Christmas vacation on Friday, December 19. Court sittings across all judicial divisions will resume on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Court’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher. She explained that the schedule was released in line with Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
According to the notice, the Federal High Court has also approved the roster of vacation judges who will handle urgent matters during the period.

“In accordance with a circular signed by the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, the Court will commence its Christmas Vacation for the year 2025 on Friday, 19th December 2025,” the statement read. “Court sittings shall resume in all Judicial Divisions on Wednesday, 7th January 2026.”

During the vacation, the core judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will remain open to litigants. Only matters related to the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and issues considered to be of urgent national importance will be entertained.

- Abuja Division: Justices Emeka Nwite and Mohammed S. Liman
- Lagos Division: Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac D. Dipeolu
- Port Harcourt Division: Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed
- Enugu Division: Justice Folasade Ogunbanjo
