Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has maintained that Arsenal remain the favourites to win the Premier League title, despite their 3–2 home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
United secured the dramatic victory at the Emirates Stadium through a late winner from Matheus Cunha, after Mikel Merino had drawn Arsenal level and raised hopes of a comeback for the Gunners.
Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo had earlier put United ahead following an own goal by Lisandro Martinez, as the visitors capitalised on defensive lapses from the hosts.

Speaking on the BBC, Rooney praised United’s interim boss, Michael Carrick, for his impressive start.
“It’s been great for Michael [Carrick], two wins out of two against Manchester City and Arsenal,” Rooney said.
“I don’t think he would have dreamt of that start when he took over last week.”
However, Rooney admitted Arsenal’s recent form could worry manager Mikel Arteta, following consecutive poor results against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.
“I think Arsenal are still title favourites, but it will be a concern for Arteta what’s happened in the last three games,” he added. “Still, I think they’re probably slight favourites.”
