CAN, Kontagora Diocese Call for Swift Rescue of Abducted Niger Students

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State and the Catholic Diocese of Kontagora have condemned the early-morning abduction of pupils, students, teachers, and a security guard from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.

The attackers reportedly stormed the school between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., seriously injuring the security guard during the assault.

In a statement from the Catholic Bishop’s House in Kontagora, Fr. Jatau Luka Joseph, the diocesan secretary, said the incident has caused “fear and distress within the school community” and expressed deep concern for the safety of the abducted children and their families.
