Burial in Daura Residence
The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari were laid to rest on Monday evening at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
The burial took place at exactly 5:50 p.m. and was led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside family members and other dignitaries.
President Bola Tinubu, who succeeded Buhari in office, was among the key figures who attended the burial.
The president joined mourners in performing the Islamic funeral prayers shortly after the arrival of Buhari’s body at the helipad in Daura.

Final Journey Home
The late president’s body, wrapped in the Nigerian flag, was flown into Katsina from London and arrived at the state airport around 2:00 p.m. It was then conveyed by road to Daura, his hometown.
At about 4:33 p.m., the funeral procession arrived at his residence, where the body was received by top military officers. Following the Islamic prayers, a solemn procession led by President Tinubu moved to the graveside, where the burial took place.
Before the interment, Buhari was honoured with a military gun salute. His official citation was read by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
He was finally laid to rest according to Islamic rite.
A Nation Mourns
Former President Buhari died on Sunday evening in London after a long illness. He was 82. His passing has drawn tributes from within and outside Nigeria, as the country bids farewell to one of its longest-serving political figures.
