Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has expressed his disappointment over the absence of teammate Benjamin Fredrick from Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Fredrick will miss Nigeria’s AFCON opener against Tanzania on Tuesday due to injury.
Speaking to reporters in Morocco ahead of the match, Bassey, who plays for Fulham, wished the Brentford loanee a quick recovery.

“No, I’ve not spoken to him. But it is very upsetting,” Bassey said of Fredrick’s absence. “I feel like it would’ve been amazing for Fredrick to showcase his talent on this AFCON stage. I just wish him a speedy recovery, and hopefully, he can be back with us soon.”
