Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued an Executive Order establishing a Coroner Inquest/Panel of Inquiry into the attacks, killings and violence reported at Naira and Kobo Junction, Motor Park/Garage Area, Ikire, on August 24, 2026.
Adeleke disclosed this in a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday.
The panel is chaired by Magistrate Ayokunle Shiyanbola, while Abiodun Badiora will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the panel are former Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Aderanti C. Kayode; Dele Akintayo, a representative of the Nigerian Bar Association; Comrade Wale Balogun, representing civil society organisations; a community representative from Ikire; and Dr Babatunde Afolabi, who will serve as the Medical/Forensic Representative.
Panel’s Mandate
According to the governor, the panel is expected to establish the circumstances and causes of the August 24 incident and examine the roles played by security operatives and other actors.
It will also identify individuals whose actions or omissions may have contributed to the violence.
The panel is further mandated to recommend prosecution, disciplinary measures, compensation and institutional reforms where necessary.
Adeleke assured the people of Ikire, families of those killed, the injured and residents across the state that anyone found culpable would face justice.
He said no individual would be shielded from accountability regardless of their status, office, political connections or institutional affiliation.
“I assure the people of Ikire, the families of the deceased, the injured and the entire people of Osun State that no person found culpable will be shielded from justice, irrespective of status, office, political connection or institutional affiliation,” the governor said.
“We owe the victims and their families the truth. We owe our people justice. And we owe the people of Ikire a peaceful and secure community.”
