Accord has distanced itself from a reported coalition of opposition parties seeking to present a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party said it did not take part in the national summit of the All Opposition Political Party Leaders held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.
At the meeting, opposition groups, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), announced plans to field a joint candidate in 2027.
However, in a statement issued on Monday, the party’s spokesperson, Joseph Omorogbe, said Accord was neither aware of the meeting nor represented at the event.
He criticised the organisers for listing the party among participants, describing the move as unfair and misleading.

“Accord had no knowledge of the meeting and did not send any representative. It is wrong to include a political party in a coalition it did not join or endorse,” the statement said.
The party condemned what it called the unauthorised use of its name, stressing that its national leadership was not involved in any discussions or decisions from the summit.
It added that the leadership under Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem does not recognise the Ibadan gathering and urged politicians to avoid actions that could raise political tension ahead of the 2027 elections.
Omorogbe noted that while political alliances are allowed, they must involve only willing participants.
He demanded that Accord’s name be removed from the list of parties linked to the meeting, describing its inclusion as reckless.
The party said it remains focused on upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states and will not be distracted by what it called unnecessary political manoeuvring.
