The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced major security gains between May and June 2025.
According to Commissioner of Police CP Ajao Saka Adewale, 82 suspects were arrested across 49 reported cases, while victims of kidnapping, rape, and trafficking were rescued.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja today, the CP said the operations were carried out in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
Officers mapped out crime hotspots, deployed intelligence-led tactics, and executed targeted raids in response to rising security concerns across the capital.
CP Ajao said, “We took the fight directly to the criminals because we are determined to make Abuja safe and secure.”
Kidnapping Rings Disrupted, Armed Robbers Arrested
Between May and June, the Command recorded seven kidnapping cases leading to 17 arrests, while three suspects were neutralised.
In addition, five kidnapping attempts were foiled in areas such as Apo-Waru, Karshi, Kawo-Bwari, Gidan-Dogo Forest, and Abaji. At Kawo village, suspects were intercepted during an attempted abduction near a local clinic.
Three were arrested after a gunfight with operatives.
Furthermore, five armed robbery cases resulted in 17 arrests.

The Command also disrupted four car theft syndicates, arresting five suspects, including scrap dealers who dismantled and resold stolen vehicles.
One “one-chance” robbery incident led to four arrests.
In other cases, twelve rape incidents were reported, leading to the arrest of ten suspects. Four of the cases are still under investigation. There were also four child trafficking cases, with eight suspects arrested, as well as one case of attempted homicide and two domestic violence reports. One suspect was caught with illegal firearms.
Victims Rescued, Weapons Recovered
In total, police rescued three trafficked children, ten rape victims, and eight abandoned babies. These individuals have since been handed over to the Social Welfare Department for care and rehabilitation.
Significant recoveries were also made. Officers recovered three AK-47 rifles with magazines, two LAR rifles, one locally made pistol, a pump-action shotgun, a Beretta pistol, and 36 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, ten stolen vehicles, two motorcycles, and stolen items such as electronics, mobile phones, cash, and power banks were recovered.
Among the robbery exhibits were an axe, a spear, military camouflage, walkie-talkies, and a jackknife. ₦79,000 was recovered during a theft investigation.
Next Phase: Community Policing and Public Engagement
Looking ahead, CP Ajao stated that the Command will build on recent success by increasing community policing efforts and launching more public awareness campaigns. The police will also continue with clearance operations and intelligence-driven strategies to prevent crime.
“We will go wherever criminals are hiding to protect lives and property in the FCT,” he assured residents.
The Commissioner urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police, assuring them that the security of Abuja remains a top priority.
