Senator Ned Nwoko has addressed the arrest of Ann Izuegbu Anthonet, a close friend of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. The arrest drew public attention after Daniels questioned its legality on social media. She highlighted accusations against her friend, including alleged involvement in drugs and theft.
Nwoko’s communication team described Daniels’ claims as “false, reckless, and deliberately intended to distort the facts.” They said Ann was arrested for posting statements that falsely accused Nwoko of physically assaulting his wife, Laila Nwoko, and causing a miscarriage.
The statement also accused Ann of helping Daniels obtain an illegal abortion during her marriage to Nwoko.

They claim this caused Daniels to bleed for weeks, resulting in the loss of Nwoko’s unborn child. Additionally, Ann is alleged to have handled and distributed illegal substances, according to a witness statement submitted to Maitama Police Station in October 2025.
The Nwoko team emphasised that Ann’s arrest followed a social media post considered threatening and defamatory toward the family. Law enforcement is now investigating the matter. “This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement issue based on evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement said.
Background on the Nwoko-Daniels Dispute
The conflict resurfaced after Daniels confirmed that warrants were issued for her and family members over allegations of stealing $40,000 from Nwoko’s residence. Their private disputes became public in October when Daniels shared a viral video alleging domestic violence. Nwoko countered, claiming Daniels struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, while Daniels admitted drug use but accused Nwoko of orchestrating it as a means of control.
The Nwoko family urged the public to rely on verified facts and allow law enforcement to manage the situation.
