Renowned Nigerian rapper and music executive Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI, has expressed deep sorrow over the recent wave of killings in Benue State, calling for an end to the violence and for justice for the affected communities.
In a heartfelt message shared via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the award-winning artist condemned the spate of attacks that have continued to ravage the Middle Belt region.
“My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics; they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart,” MI wrote.
He added: “I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Benue. Your pain is my pain. We can’t normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long. To those we’ve lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you.”
The rapper also called on the authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into the attacks and to deploy a more robust security presence in vulnerable communities across the state.
MI’s message comes in the wake of rising insecurity in Benue, with several communities suffering repeated attacks from suspected armed groups, resulting in loss of lives, displacement, and destruction of property.
