The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos last week and transferred to Abuja, sparking online outrage after Regina Daniels accused the police of bias and claimed her brother’s innocence.
In response, FCT Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated on Friday that the arrest was lawful and conducted with due process.

She explained that multiple police invitations had been sent to Ojeogwu, but he failed to respond.
According to Adeh, the arrest followed a formal petition accusing Ojeogwu and three others of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
“On October 28, 2025, the FCT Metro Area Command received a petition against Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu and three others. Despite several invitations, he did not show up. He was later arrested in Lagos with a valid court warrant and taken to Abuja for investigation,” Adeh said.

She added that after the investigation, Ojeogwu was charged in court on November 6, 2025, and ordered to remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions.
The police reiterated their commitment to professionalism, due process, and the rule of law, assuring the public that no one is above accountability.
