PTAD Disburses ₦5.12bn in Pension Arrears to 90,689 Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed ₦5,119,328,000 in outstanding pension arrears to 90,689 pensioners across its four pension departments.

The payment aligns with PTAD’s mandate to clear liabilities and ensure timely settlement of entitlements.

A statement issued Monday by Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of PTAD’s Corporate Communications Unit, revealed the payment breakdown. The Civil and Industrial Public Service Pension Department (CIPPD) paid ₦276 million to 8,626 pensioners for one month’s arrears. The Police Pension Department (PPD) disbursed ₦619.6 million to 9,681 pensioners, covering two months.

Largest Share Goes to Parastatals and Agencies
The Customs and Similar Parastatals Department (CSPD) released ₦409 million to 12,773 pensioners for one month. The Parastatal and Agency Pension Department (PAPD) accounted for the largest payment, releasing ₦3.8 billion to 59,609 pensioners for two months’ arrears.

Ajayi said the payments reflect the federal government’s commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to improve retirees’ welfare. PTAD reaffirmed its focus on efficient pension management to ensure public service retirees receive their benefits promptly and without undue delay.
