FG Distributes ₦450m Fertiliser to Jigawa Farmers to Boost Food Security

The Federal Government has allocated fertiliser worth over ₦450 million to farmers in Jigawa State for sale at subsidised rates, as part of efforts to boost food production and strengthen food security under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Umar Namadi announced the initiative during a Citizens’ Engagement Programme held in Miga, headquarters of Miga Local Government Area.

According to him, the Federal Government has provided 20 trucks of fertiliser to Jigawa farmers to support agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods. “This initiative aims to help farmers access essential inputs and equipment needed to enhance crop yields and agribusiness,” Namadi said.

The governor noted that Miga, being a largely agrarian region with fertile land suitable for all-year farming, would benefit greatly from the federal intervention.

He added that his administration’s 12-point agenda aligns with the Renewed Hope vision, with agriculture and food security as key priorities.

“To complement President Tinubu’s efforts, we have introduced several innovations to modernise and transform traditional farming into a mechanised system,” Namadi stated.

He further disclosed the creation of the Jigawa State Farm Service Mechanisation Company Limited, which will provide affordable and efficient mechanisation services through a network of centres equipped with tractors, harvesters, and modern farm tools.

“We are seeking qualified and motivated individuals to manage and operate these centres effectively,” the governor added.
