APC Appoints Uzodimma Chair of 73-member National Convention Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a central coordination committee for its 2026 national convention, appointing Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as chairman.

The party announced the development in a statement issued from its national secretariat in Abuja and signed by Surajudeen Basiru, APC national secretary, and Sulaiman Argungu, national organising secretary.

According to the statement, the committee is responsible for overseeing preparations for the 2026 national convention.

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, was named vice chairman of the committee, while Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, will serve as secretary.

The APC said the committee comprises serving and former governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, and other party leaders drawn from across the country.

Those listed as members include Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Other members are Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda; Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah; and Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

The party said details of the inauguration of the central coordination committee would be announced later.

The APC also released a revised timetable for its ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses.

According to the schedule, electronic registration of members will take place from January 31 to February 8, while ward congresses are slated for February 18.

Local government congresses will hold on February 21, with appeals expected to be concluded by February 23.

State congresses are scheduled for March 3, followed by zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones on March 25.

The APC fixed its national convention for March 27 and March 28.

In addition, the party announced fees for the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants seeking party offices at various levels.

Nomination Forms for Sale

The nomination form for the position of national chairman was fixed at N10 million, while forms for deputy national chairman and national secretary cost N7.5 million each.

The APC said female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities would pay for the expression of interest form and only 50 percent of the stipulated nomination fees.

It further stated that Ekiti, Osun, Rivers states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are exempted from ward, local government, and state congresses but will participate in the election of three delegates to the national convention.
