CREDICORP Empowers First 1,000 Women With Vehicle Credit

CREDICORP empowers women with mobility

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has enabled 1,000 women to acquire locally assembled vehicles.

The empowerment programme marked the commencement of CREDICORP’s nationwide ‘10,000 Women Mobility’ initiative rollout at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Monday, December 22.

According to CREDICORP, the scheme represents the largest single-day mobility asset acquisition for women in Nigeria.

It is designed to reach all six geopolitical zones in 2026, and to empower women with income-generating mobility assets financed through responsible and affordable consumer credit.

“The Abuja rollout represents the North Central zone, where the first 1,000 women receive brand-new, locally assembled vehicles supported by structured repayment plans through CREDICORP’S licensed financial partners.

“Subsequent deployments will continue in Q1 2026 across the Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast and South-south zones,” CREDICORP said.

The initiative is also aimed at addressing long-standing barriers limiting women’s participation in mobility sectors – including transportation, logistics, clean energy distribution, and micro-enterprise – by providing access to productive assets that generate immediate income and long-term financial stability.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba, stated, “This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to making consumer credit work for everyday Nigerians – responsibly and at scale. Today is the beginning of another nationwide movement. When women gain access to production tools, households stabilise, communities strengthen, and the nation becomes more resilient.”

At the launch on Monday were the Minister for Women Affairs, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, the Director-General of the National Automotive Design Development Council (NADDC), representatives of the Minister of State for Finance and other government dignitaries.

According to CREDICORP, all vehicles deployed under the programme are assembled in Nigeria, supporting domestic manufacturing, expanding vendor ecosystems, and creating jobs across the mobility value chains.

“This is a mandate of CREDICORP’s Project S.C.A.L.E. (Securing Consumer Access for Local Enterprises),” it added.
