The Anambra State Executive Council has approved contracts totaling N4.443 billion for 11 development projects across the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, disclosed that the council also approved N87.168 million for an annual asset insurance policy covering the new Government House (Light House), Awka, under a five-year agreement.
Court and Road Projects
Details of the contracts include N171.48 million for the modification and completion of the abandoned court building and associated structures within the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka. N330.5 million has been allocated for the rehabilitation of failed sections of Court Road and Obunagu Road in Awka metropolis.
Public Safety and Facilities
Other approvals include N443.4 million for the supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, and N297.9 million for additional furniture at the Government House Theatre and Multi-purpose Hall, Light House, Awka.
The council also approved N346.87 million for the rehabilitation of failed portions of St. Thomas Aquinas Road, GRA Awka-Min of Lands-Ekwulobia Street-Chief Abose Ejeagwu Lane; N85.3 million for a 32kva solar power system at the Country Club of Solution Fun City, Awka; and N1.77 billion for the construction of the Ikenga-Isuofia-Igboukwu discharge channel.
Parks, Electricity, and Traffic Systems
Other projects include the construction of Solution Park & Pay Garage at Ekwulobia, comprising an office building, gate house, toilet facility, concrete floor, park gazebo with solar panel stands, benches, and perimeter fence at N90.45 million.
Additionally, N476.3 million has been approved for extending electricity to Iyiora Anam Community and Zion Ministry Psychiatric and Elderly Hospital, Aguleri, while N240.25 million will fund the installation of a three-way traffic light system at Igwe Orizu Junction and a four-way system at Nnewi Roundabout along the Nnewi-Ozubulu Dual Carriageway, including pedestrian lights at both locations.
The projects, according to the council, are aimed at improving infrastructure, safety, and public service delivery across Anambra State.
