Navy Chief Redeploys 65 Senior Officers in Major Shakeup

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has approved the redeployment of 65 senior officers and the appointment of key staff across the Nigerian Navy’s commands, units, and tri-service institutions.

The announcement, made on Monday by Navy Spokesman Commodore Adams-Aliu, marks a renewed effort to strengthen operational efficiency and fulfil the Navy’s constitutional mandate under the CNS’s leadership.

Notable redeployments include Rear Admiral Suleiman Abdullahi, now Chief of Logistics at Naval Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Kasim Bushi, appointed Executive Director of the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION).

Other significant appointments include Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed as Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Musa Katagum as Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters, and Rear Admiral Hamza Ibrahim as Group Managing Director of Navy Holdings Limited.

The reshuffle also sees key postings in Defence Headquarters, the Defence Intelligence Agency, the Naval Dockyard, Naval Transformation, and multiple operational commands, alongside appointments to institutions such as the Naval War College, the Defence Space Agency, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.

Commodore Adams-Aliu said the redeployments reflect the CNS’s vision to enhance leadership, operational readiness, and strategic coordination across the Navy’s formations.
