A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Ulasi, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, currently lacks a clear political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ulasi made the remarks on Friday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
He noted that although the Nigerian Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to contest elections, Obi’s political direction remains uncertain as he has not openly identified with any political party.
The PDP stalwart recalled that Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party and was recently sighted at an event organised by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but has yet to declare his political base for 2027.
Ulasi, however, maintained that Obi could play a significant role in the PDP if he decides to return, stressing that his credibility and widespread support would strengthen the party’s chances in the next polls.

“In terms of the presidency for 2027, I believe Peter Obi so far has no platform,” Ulasi said.
“To the best of my knowledge, he ran last time with the Labour Party. He has attended a luncheon of what they call ADC. So, I don’t know what his platform will be.
“I’ll be happy if he joins PDP because he will bring his credibility to bear on the party as we are reorganising.
“I mean, he’s not a name you want to introduce in Nigerian politics. Any party that has him today, we know that they have already made more than 30 to 40 percent of the election because he has tremendous support across this country,” he added.
