Former Minister of Sports and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Solomon Dalung, has rejected claims that the ADC is merely an association, insisting that it remains a duly registered political party.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Dalung said the ADC has been in existence for more than 19 years and is currently undergoing a transition process. According to him, the exercise involves incorporating coalition elements into the party’s structure.
He explained that the transition includes proper documentation and the transfer of signature specimens of new leaders to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a requirement that will enable the electoral body to conclude its own procedures.

The former minister stressed that the ADC was committed to meeting all legal requirements, noting that there was no cause for concern.
“The ADC and the coalition movement are out to rescue the country. They cannot afford not to comply with the requirements of law, because injustice, impunity, and lack of internal democracy were the things that had jeopardized our democracy,” Dalung said.

He added that there was “no panic whatsoever,” maintaining that the transition process was still ongoing.
Despite Dalung’s Claim of a peaceful transition process, leadership tussles persist in the party.
Just recently, Nafiu Bala, the self-proclaimed chairman of the party, announced his official resumption as the chairman, dismissing the leadership of David Mark, a former Senate president and PDP chieftain, now ADC’s chairman.
Bala also accused the opposition coalition led by Atiku Abubakar of hijacking the party. They adopted the party as the platform to contest the presidential seat against President Tinubu in 2027.
