Lionesses Stun Sweden in Epic Euro 2025 Comeback

England staged one of the most dramatic comebacks in Women’s European Championship history, clawing back from a 2–0 deficit to defeat Sweden on penalties.

With that result, the Lionesses secured a hard-earned place in the semi-finals of Euro 2025.

Sweden stunned Sarina Wiegman’s side early in the match. Kosovare Asllani opened the scoring before Stina Blackstenius doubled the lead, putting England on the brink of elimination by halftime.

Bronze Sparks Revival, Agyemang Ignites Hope

However, the Lionesses came out firing in the second half. Just five minutes after the break, Lucy Bronze powered home a header from a corner kick, immediately narrowing the gap.

Then, barely two minutes later, 18-year-old forward Michelle Agyemang completed the comeback with a well-taken finish. That rapid turnaround electrified the stadium and shifted the momentum completely in England’s favour.

Earps Seals Victory in Shoot-Out Drama

Despite sustained pressure, neither side managed to find a winner in extra time. Consequently, the match moved into a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out.

England rose to the occasion. Mary Earps made two crucial saves, and England converted three of their penalties to claim a 3–2 victory. Rather than being overrun, the Lionesses demonstrated grit, composure, and mental strength under immense pressure.
