The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has denied allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that figures from the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state were being manipulated.
The ADC had recently raised concerns about possible irregularities in the online pre-registration process for the CVR in Lagos and other states.
Reacting on Monday in Lagos, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Lagos, Mr Taiwo Gbadegesin, dismissed the claims as baseless and inaccurate.

According to him, the registration figures released so far are consistent with previous trends and reflect the demographic reality of Lagos as a state with a large, youthful, and technologically inclined population.
“In the last CVR (2021–2022), Lagos recorded the highest number of registrations nationwide. The state’s total registered voters rose from 6,570,291 before the exercise to 7,060,195 afterwards.
The current figures, therefore, align with this established pattern,” Gbadegesin explained.
He added that the numbers also highlight the commission’s efficient deployment and the success of sustained public awareness campaigns by the state office.
Gbadegesin stressed that INEC remains committed to transparency in carrying out its constitutional mandate and assured that the CVR exercise in Lagos was being conducted in line with established guidelines.
