Atiku Visits Malami, Tambuwal, Vows to Defend Nigerians Against Dictatorship

Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Weakening Opposition, Vows to Remain in ADC Presidential Race

Visit to Malami after Kebbi Attack

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday visited former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, following an attack on Malami’s convoy in Birnin Kebbi.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred near the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat, where about 10 vehicles were damaged and several supporters sustained injuries.

Malami alleged the assault was politically motivated, claiming his convoy was targeted by thugs armed with weapons and stones.

Reacting, Atiku condemned the violence and warned of rising political unrest across the country.
“This trend is dangerous. Security agencies and political leaders must take urgent steps to stop it,” he said.

Solidarity Visit to Tambuwal after EFCC Detention

Atiku also paid a solidarity visit to former Sokoto State governor and senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at his Abuja residence.

The visit followed Tambuwal’s release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he was detained over alleged financial impropriety during his tenure as governor.

Tambuwal, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, had his arrest widely criticised, with members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) describing it as politically motivated.

In a post on X, Atiku expressed relief over Tambuwal’s condition.
“I visited Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at his residence in Abuja earlier today. I am happy seeing him in good, unbroken, and unwavering spirit,” he wrote.

Pledge to Resist Emerging Dictatorship

During his separate meetings with Malami and Tambuwal, Atiku reaffirmed that the ADC coalition will not relent in defending Nigerians against what he described as President Bola Tinubu’s anti-democratic forces.

He maintained that the coalition is determined to rescue Nigeria’s democracy from the stranglehold of an emerging dictatorship.

Posting on X, Atiku said:
“We will be unrelenting in defending the rights of every Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration,” was my assurance to Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, today.

“The coalition that we are pushing is aimed at rescuing our democracy from the stranglehold of this emerging dictatorship.

“We shall be deliberate in joining hands in saving our democracy.”
