The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has accused former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of leaving behind a trail of abandoned projects and financial mismanagement.
Addressing journalists on Monday, Achida alleged that Tambuwal deliberately refused to formally hand over to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 in order to evade accountability for the state’s condition.
He claimed the action was meant to frustrate the new administration.
The APC chairman, however, praised Governor Aliyu for what he described as prudent financial management and visible development initiatives.

“Since his assumption of office, salaries are paid on or before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major projects are ongoing, all without borrowing,” Achida stated.
He added that Governor Aliyu remained committed to the welfare of the people rather than “looting public resources”.

Speaking on Tambuwal’s political future, Achida said the former governor lacked an independent base and had relied heavily on political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, to gain and retain power.
According to him, Tambuwal is “politically retired” and unlikely to contest future governorship or senatorial elections.
When contacted, a former member of Tambuwal’s cabinet, who requested anonymity, said a formal response would be issued at the appropriate time.
