A member of the House of Representatives, Isah Ambarura, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ambarura, who represents Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, currently serves as deputy chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business.
Also during plenary on Wednesday, Jakduwa Kaikuku, the lawmaker representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in Yobe State, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu read the defection letters on the floor of the House.

Explaining his decision, Ambarura said he left the APC after wide consultations, adding that the move would better position him to serve his constituents.
“My decision was informed by circumstances beyond my control within the APC, which compelled me to defect,” he said.
Kaikuku, on his part, blamed his exit from the PDP on the party’s lingering leadership crisis, describing the APC as a stronger and fairer political platform.
The House of Representatives has witnessed several defections in recent months as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
On Tuesday, Muhammed Jajere, who represents Fika/Fune Federal Constituency in Yobe State, also left the PDP for the APC.
Last week, four lawmakers from Kano State, Sani Wakili, Muktar Zakari, Umar Datti, and Abdulhakeem Ado, defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ADC.
Other lawmakers, including Thaddeus Attah, Usman Zubairu, and Sani Noma, have also switched parties, moving from the Labour Party (LP) and APC to the ADC.
