Seplat Achieves First Gas at ANOH Plant
The indigenous energy firm says plans are underway to supply processed gas to NLNG

Seplat Energy PLC, a Nigerian independent energy company, says it has achieved first gas at its 300 million Standard Cubic Feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH gas plant located in the Niger Delta.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 20, Seplat said ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) commenced supply of gas to Indorama on Friday, January 16, 2026, after completion of the 11km Indorama gas export pipeline and receiving regulatory approval from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Seplat said the gas supply to Indorama is backed by “firm” Gas Sales Agreements (GSAs).

This comes 20 months after the ANOH gas processing plant was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May 2024.

AGPC is an incorporated joint venture between Seplat and Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The company is committed to delivering the ANOH gas plant with Phase One processing capacity of 300mmscfd. The integrated plant consists of two 150 MMscfd gas processing units, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) recovery units, condensate stabilization units, a 16MW power plant and other supporting facilities.

Seplat stated that four upstream wells, which had been on standby since November 2025, were activated to enable the flow of gas.

“Since first gas, wet gas production has been stabilizing, delivering 40-52 MMscfd of processed gas directly from the ANOH gas plant to the Indorama Petrochemical Plant,” Seplat stated, adding that condensate production has reached between 2.0 and 2.5 kboepd and is expected to increase with gas production as the plant ramps up to design capacity.

It also revealed that plans are underway to begin the supply of processed gas to the Nigeria LNG (NLNG). It added that the supply to NLNG will support the gas plant to further scale production towards the full design capacity of 300MMscfd.

The indigenous energy firm further stated that the construction of the OB3 pipeline export route by Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), originally designated as the primary channel for ANOH gas supply to the domestic market, has resumed and a revised completion date will be communicated in due course.

Commenting on the development, Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, Roger Brown, said the ANOH gas project is an important and strategic project not just for Seplat and its partner, NGIC, but Nigeria as a whole.

He said: “ANOH is the first of the seven critical gas development projects identified by the Federal Government of Nigeria to commence operations.”

Mr Brown said they are proud of achieving the project, which has taken a significant amount of commitment and hard work to complete in a part of the onshore Niger Delta with limited gas pipeline infrastructure.

According to him, ANOH is the company’s third major gas processing facility onshore and increases its Joint Venture gross gas processing capacity onshore to over 850 MMscfd.

Highlighting the potential benefits of the gas project, Brown said: “ANOH will provide material income streams for Seplat, reduce our carbon intensity and contribute significantly to the 2030 production target of 200 kboepd, set at our recent CMD.

“It will also increase energy access for Nigerians in terms of both power and clean cooking fuel for the local communities, while advancing delivery of our mission to support economic prosperity in Nigeria.”

The company said the LPG produced from ANOH, when combined with the ones produced at Sapele and the Bonny River Terminal (BRT), “will make Seplat a leading supplier of clean cooking fuel to the domestic market.”

It also stated that the ANOH gas plant will process flared gas from the Ohaji field, enabling Seplat to achieve its onshore End of Routine Flaring programme, a key commercial and sustainability initiative for the company.
