Commuters and passersby were thrown into panic on Thursday morning after a train coach detached from its compartments along the Ladipo axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, temporarily halting movement and sparking confusion in the area.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m., involved a train travelling from Ogba Ayo in Ogun State to Apapa in Lagos. Witnesses said the train’s rear coach suddenly disconnected, causing alarm among those nearby.

According to an eyewitness, Oloruntoba Omodele, the unexpected break caused visible panic.
“Everyone was shocked by what happened, but thankfully, no lives were lost,” he said.

No Casualties, Emergency Teams Respond

Despite the disruption, no injuries were reported. Emergency responders reportedly arrived swiftly to manage the scene and redirect traffic, which had started to build up due to the obstruction.

The Ladipo area, known for traffic congestion and frequent transport-related incidents, has once again drawn attention to the safety and maintenance of public transport infrastructure in Lagos.
