New Tax Laws Will Bring Relief, Tinubu Assures Nigerians

Tinubu Approves Posting of Four Ambassadors to US, UK, France, Turkey

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians not to fear about the new tax regime set to begin next year, promising significant benefits for low-income earners, small businesses, and essential sectors.

Speaking at the 8th Annual Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable and the 76th posthumous birthday lecture of the late Oyo State governor at the University of Ibadan, Tinubu said the reforms would exempt food, medication, education, agriculture, and shared transportation from heavy taxation while preventing multiple taxes on businesses.

The President asserted that his administration’s economic measures are already showing results, GDP growth is up, inflation is declining, and previously loss-making companies are returning to profitability.

Tinubu recalled his shared vision with the late Ajimobi, emphasizing the importance of making tough decisions for long-term transformation.

The roundtable, themed “Pathways to Electoral Credibility: Reforming Political Parties, Re-engaging Citizens, and Restoring Trust in Nigerian Democracy,” drew friends, associates, and family members of Ajimobi. Tinubu commended Mrs. Florence Ajimobi for preserving the late governor’s legacy and urged the APC in Oyo State to unite for a 2027 electoral victory.

Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, described the event as a platform to honor Ajimobi’s legacy and promote democratic engagement, while Professor Ibrahim Gambari stressed the need to reform political parties to enhance electoral credibility.
