FCT Police Unveil High Security Armuory

The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled a security armoury at the heart of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Headquarters. It is a containerised facility built to reduce risks and restore confidence in arms management within the Force.

The facility, donated by global conflict recovery NGO Mines Advisory Group (MAG) International, was formally commissioned on June 17, 2025, during a brief but symbolic handover ceremony attended by top police authorities and development partners.

The development became public following an official statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who described the armoury as a critical leap toward accountability, safety, and reform.

Built with features aimed at preventing unauthorised access and accidental discharges, the armoury is expected to set a new benchmark for how weapons are stored and secured in Nigeria’s law enforcement system.

Representing the Inspector General of Police at the event, AIG Isyaku Mohammed, who oversees the armament unit of the Force, called the armoury a “game changer” for security professionalism in the FCT.

“This is more than a building; it’s a commitment to international standards and public trust,” he said, calling for sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and MAG.

The FCT Police Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the IGP and MAG International, noting that the command was not just receiving a structure but a standard.

He said, “Our duty is to protect lives, but we must first protect the tools we use to do so.”

With rising demands for transparency in Nigeria’s security operations, the facility is expected to mark the beginning of a culture shift, one container at a time.
