The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday inaugurated a Caretaker Committee for its Edo State chapter, headed by Prof. Monday Igbafen, despite a resolution by the Edo State House of Assembly urging it to suspend the move.
The Assembly had earlier directed the NLC to work with Comrade Bernard Joman Egwakhide, who reportedly enjoys the backing of the state government.
In a dramatic twist, the Adams Oshiomhole Labour House, the initial venue for the event, was locked to prevent the inauguration, while security was tightened around the facility.
