A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced four members of the Boko Haram terror group to life imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to terrorism charges.
The trial judge, James Omotosho, handed down the sentences on Tuesday following the defendants’ admission of guilt. The prosecution presented evidence through a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS), which the court admitted.
Those sentenced to life imprisonment are Ali Abiso, Bakura Abah Kabiru, Ado, also known as Luka Garba, and Babagoni Masawai.
Court Details Role Of Convicts In Attacks
In the charge marked FHC/KNJ/CR/509/2026, Abiso, the sole defendant in the case, pleaded guilty to all four counts.
The prosecution said the 30-year-old from Bama LGA in Borno State took part in and supported attacks in Bama, Gwoza, Konduga, Bita, Baza and Aulari before July 8, 2022, offences punishable under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment on counts two and four, and 25 years each on counts one and three, with the latter to run concurrently.

Kabiru received life imprisonment on count two and 25 years each on counts one and three, while Ado was sentenced to life imprisonment on count two and 25 years on count one.
Masawai was handed life imprisonment on counts six and seven, 20 years each on counts one and two, and 10 years each on counts three, four and five.
Fourteen Others Get Jail Terms
The court also convicted 14 other defendants who pleaded guilty to various charges, sentencing them to prison terms ranging from 20 to 25 years.
Their convictions were based on confessional statements and investigation reports presented by the prosecution through the DSS witness.
Ali Mustapha was sentenced to 20 years on count one and 10 years each on counts two to seven, amounting to 80 years, though the court ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
Other convicts include Danbawa Salisu, Modu Ali, Sanda Bello, Mustapha Fali, Modu Musa, Bidal Modu, Mohammed Abdullahi, Umar Garba, Usman Ahmadu, Hussaini Bukar, Baba Manye, Musa Mai Modu and Ali Musa.
FG Continues Mass Trial Of Terror Suspects
The prosecution team was led by Lateef Fagbemi, alongside Rotimi Oyedepo, who tendered confessional statements and investigation reports as evidence.
On Tuesday, the minister said about 500 suspects are currently being prosecuted in phase nine of the ongoing mass trial of suspected terrorists in Abuja, with cases being handled by judges of the Federal High Court.
