The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious at Polling Unit 053, Jaji Street, Kubwa, during Saturday’s Area Council election in the Federal Capital Territory, clinching 13 votes in an exercise marked by low voter participation.
Out of 464 registered voters assigned to the unit, only 23 voters were accredited, representing a turnout of less than five per cent.
Results announced at the polling unit showed that the APC secured 13 votes to top the poll. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) trailed jointly with four votes each, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled two votes.
One ballot was declared invalid, and no spoilt ballot was recorded.

Although 464 ballot papers were issued to the polling unit, officials used only 23, leaving 441 unused at the end of voting. Electoral officials arrived early with materials, and voting proceeded without major disruptions, but voter turnout remained significantly low throughout the exercise.
The APC’s margin of victory stood at nine votes over its closest contenders, the ADC and ZLP.
The outcome highlights the limited participation of registered voters at the unit, reflecting the broader concerns over voter apathy in parts of the Federal Capital Territory during the election.
