Wizkid Becomes First African Artist to Surpass 10 Billion Spotify Streams

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history as the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify.

The milestone reflects his cumulative streams across all credits on the global platform. Wizkid’s collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake and British singer Tyla is his most-streamed song, nearing 4 billion streams.

His third studio album, ‘Made in Lagos Deluxe’, has also crossed 1 billion streams, making it his most-streamed project on Spotify. As a lead artist, Wizkid’s most-streamed song is ‘Essence’ featuring Tems, which has amassed over 333 million streams.

In a related development, American singer Billie Eilish has claimed a record as well. Her song ‘Birds Of A Feather’ recently surpassed Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ to become the most-streamed solo track by a female artist, hitting 3.37 billion streams compared to 3.3 billion for ‘Dance Monkey’.
