Why I Keep My Marriage Private – Ruth Kadiri

By Esther Ososanya

Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has shared why she keeps her marriage away from the spotlight. She said the choice to protect her private life is one of the best decisions she has ever made.

In a recent interview, Kadiri explained that privacy has helped her stay focused and grounded.

According to her, it allows her to define her relationship on her own terms, without external opinions.

“It has helped me define my relationship. I don’t have external factors deciding how I relate with my spouse,” she said.

Although she doesn’t flaunt her marriage online, Kadiri made it clear that she’s not hiding her husband. She pointed out that they attend church and events together, and those close to her know him well.

“My life isn’t as private as people think. People who know me know him. That’s enough,” she added.

She also explained that her husband prefers to stay away from social media. He only shares Bible verses and avoids posting personal photos.

Choosing peace over pressure

Kadiri noted that being a public figure comes with pressure. However, keeping her marriage private has helped her maintain balance in her life and career.

“Seeing that my career is thriving, I thank God there’s an aspect of me I can still control,” she said.

The actress believes that not every part of a celebrity’s life needs to be public.
