Wale Opens Up on Role in Wizkid’s Career, “I Accommodated Him Years Ago”

Nigerian-American rapper Wale has shared insights into his long-standing relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid, revealing the role he played in introducing the singer to international audiences.

During a livestream with comedian and musician Carter Efe, Wale described Wizkid as his “boy” and recalled hosting him in Beverly Hills, California, for an entire summer. “I have been following Nigerian music; there are so many artists I enjoy.

Some I don’t know personally, but I like their music. There are some I know personally, like Wizkid. Me and Wizkid have been cool for almost 10 years now,” Wale said.

He added, “I remember taking him to his first BET Awards show. That is my boy. I once accommodated him in Beverly Hills for a whole summer. We were just writing music. We made a lot of songs together, like ‘Drop for Me’.”
