Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, marking a proud moment for her state and the nation at large.
The 25-year-old beauty queen secured the crown during the glamorous grand finale held on Saturday evening in Lagos, where she outshone 21 other contestants. She takes over the title from Chidimma Adetishina, the 2024 winner.
In her acceptance speech, Basil emphasised the importance of self-belief and cultural pride.
“I want young girls to know that they can achieve more and still celebrate their cultural identity,” she said to loud applause from the audience.
