Nicki Minaj Welcomes Trump’s Move on Nigeria, Speaks on Christian Persecution

American rapper Nicki Minaj has expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged violations of religious freedom, particularly against Christians.

In a post on X, Minaj raised concerns about what she described as increasing persecution of Christians globally, urging the world not to ignore rising religious violence.

The artist said she felt grateful to live in a country where people are free to worship and emphasised that no individual should face discrimination on the basis of faith.

“We live in a country where we can freely worship God,” she wrote. “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”

Minaj also noted that several countries are grappling with religious oppression and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and vocal about such issues.

She went on to commend President Trump and his administration for taking what she called a serious stand on the matter.

“Thank you to the President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer,” she added.

Minaj’s comments come amid heightened diplomatic attention following Trump’s statements accusing Nigeria of failing to protect Christians — a claim strongly rejected by the Nigerian government, which maintains that both Christians and Muslims have been victims of terrorism and insecurity.
