CREDICORP Disburses ₦43.25bn Consumer Credit, Maintains Zero Bad Loans Record

The Nigeria Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) says it has facilitated ₦43.25 billion in consumer credit across the country while maintaining a zero non-performing loan record.

In its latest newsletter, the Corporation said the credit expansion was delivered through 35 participating financial institutions and has reached over 230,000 beneficiaries nationwide.

According to the report, women account for more than 52 percent of total beneficiaries, reflecting efforts to deepen financial inclusion across gender and income groups.

CREDICORP said the initiative is helping Nigerians access essential goods and services, including transport solutions, energy systems, productive tools and household items, thereby improving living conditions and stimulating economic activity.

Inclusion Central to National Credit Strategy

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Uzoma Nwagba, said the institution remains committed to expanding access to credit as a driver of national development.

“For CREDICORP, inclusion is not symbolic. It is embedded in execution — shaping how programmes are designed, delivered, and scaled across Nigeria,” he said.

He added that the agency’s mandate is to make consumer credit more accessible and practical for everyday Nigerians.

A key component of the intervention is the Presidential Programme on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles, implemented in partnership with Pi-CNG, the National Credit Guarantee Company, and Moniepoint MFB.

Under the scheme, motorists can convert vehicles to cleaner energy systems and repay through structured instalments, reducing upfront costs while encouraging the adoption of alternative energy solutions.

The Corporation added that 227,728 Nigerians have so far benefited from its various interventions, including support for digital devices, solar systems, vehicles, work tools and home improvement projects.
