The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has sent two major drug traffickers to prison in Lagos, striking another blow against narcotics cartels.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos convicted 37-year-old Ajetsibo Emami and 51-year-old Solomon Akpomuai in separate rulings. Both men received prison terms with options of ₦50 million fines each.
NDLEA operatives arrested Emami, also known as Warri Kinsman, on June 28, 2025, in Ikeja. They recovered 414.2 kilograms of Canadian Loud cannabis packed in 24 jumbo bags. He was convicted under charge number FHC/L/636C/2025 and sentenced to six years in prison.
Customs officers arrested Akpomuai on June 3, 2025, along the Shagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk. They later handed him to the NDLEA on June 16. The court convicted him under charge number FHC/L/635C/2025 and sentenced him to four years in prison.
NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), praised the judiciary and security agencies. He said the convictions show steady progress in the fight against substance abuse and drug trafficking.
“These convictions prove that Nigeria will, sooner than later, overcome the menace of drugs,” Marwa declared.
The agency noted that the convictions add to its growing list of successes in curbing both drug supply and demand across the country.
