Nigerian Troops Kill Nine Terrorists, Arrest Eight, Rescue 37 Kidnapped Victims

Nigerian troops battle insurgents and terrorists in northern Nigeria

The Nigerian Army has announced major operational successes across the country, with troops killing nine terrorists, arresting eight suspects, and rescuing 37 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations.

A military source said the operations were carried out nationwide, reflecting the army’s renewed drive to strengthen security.

According to the source, troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion ambushed ISWAP and Boko Haram (JAS) fighters at Dipchari, in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing five insurgents.

Similarly, soldiers from the 148 Battalion, operating along the Ekiti–Kogi border, neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles.

In another encounter, troops of the 3 Battalion repelled a major attack on their base, killing one terrorist and forcing others to flee with gunshot wounds.

Across Borno, Katsina, Imo, and Plateau States, troops arrested eight suspects linked to terrorism, kidnapping, and arms trafficking.
Those apprehended include an ISWAP logistics courier, a terrorist collaborator, a wanted IPOB/ESN kingpin, and a notorious gunrunner.

Recovered items included several firearms, ammunition, and motorcycles used for criminal operations.

Ongoing clearance and rescue missions also led to the freedom of 37 kidnapped victims in Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Delta, and Kebbi States.

The source disclosed that in Sakaba, Kebbi State, 28 hostages were rescued, among them a pregnant woman who gave birth during the operation.

“These operations reflect the troops’ commitment to protecting civilians and dismantling criminal networks threatening national stability,” the source added.

In the South-South, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade and Operation DELTA SAFE uncovered and destroyed several illegal refining sites in Imo State.
Over 20,000 litres of stolen crude oil and refined products were seized during the raid.

The Nigerian Army Headquarters commended the synergy among security agencies and local vigilante groups that supported the operations.

The source reaffirmed the military’s commitment to safeguarding lives, strengthening internal security, and supporting the Federal Government’s food security agenda by ensuring peace in farming communities.
