The outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, will today, officially hand over leadership of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the newly appointed acting IGP, Olatunji Disu.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Disu on Tuesday following Egbetokun’s resignation.
Pinnacle Daily gathered that the handover ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the IGP Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Egbetokun resigned, citing pressing family reasons. President Tinubu accepted the resignation immediately and appointed AIG Disu, who headed the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Alagbon, Lagos, as acting IGP.

Disu’s appointment is expected to trigger the retirement of eight senior Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs).
The formal handover marks a critical moment in the NPF’s history. Nigeria now looks to Disu to maintain continuity while introducing reforms in intelligence-led policing and community engagement.
