The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritise governance or step aside, following reports that he allegedly shared vehicles to political allies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement, criticised what he described as disturbing claims that the Presidency distributed Hilux trucks, Land Cruisers and Hummer buses to political agents nationwide as part of early mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Abdullahi said the move was insensitive, coming at a time when Nigeria remains under a state of emergency due to worsening insecurity.
He argued that the development shows that the President’s declaration of a security emergency was “nothing more than a media stunt,” insisting that the administration has failed to introduce any substantial measures to improve public safety.
“While ordinary Nigerians are being kidnapped, displaced and killed, the President is distributing branded vehicles and building a partisan structure.
Entire communities are under siege, our security forces are overstretched, yet the ruling party is preparing for rallies,” he said.
He added that at a time when children are being abducted and villages attacked, the country needs a leadership focused on national recovery, not political survival.

“A nation under emergency rule is expected to adopt extraordinary conduct that reflects the gravity of its condition.
What we have seen under President Tinubu is that, beyond the declaration and a few symbolic actions, nothing has changed.
There are no new safety measures, no heightened alertness, nothing. It has been business as usual,” Abdullahi stated.
The ADC spokesman stressed that leadership in crisis requires “focus, sacrifice and moral clarity,” warning that lavish convoys and early campaigns only worsen public despair.
He urged the President to return to the business of governance or “step aside and admit that his political ambition now stands in the way of Nigeria’s recovery.”
