The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 24,202 officers and personnel across four key paramilitary agencies.
The exercise, announced by the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, covers senior officers, middle cadres, and other personnel.
The announcement was made yesterday in Abuja through the Secretary to the board, Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril (retd.).

This marks the second batch of senior officer promotions in 2025. The four agencies under the board include:
- Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) – 11,426 officers promoted
- Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) – 4,336 officers promoted
- Federal Fire Service (FFS) – 2,581 officers promoted
- Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – 5,859 officers promoted
Dr Tunji-Ojo explained that promotions were based on national spread, good service records, performance, ratification, and available vacancies.
He added that the exercise is aimed at boosting personnel morale and enhancing service delivery across the agencies.

“In recent years, promotions had been stagnant, but this administration is committed to improving the well-being of personnel to tackle insecurity across the country,” Tunji-Ojo said. He noted that this move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritising the welfare of serving officers.
