Authorities in Russia’s Omsk region on Tuesday reported an accident on an underground section of a major gas pipeline, prompting an emergency response and temporary disruption in the affected area.
Regional governor Vitaly Khotsenko confirmed the incident on Telegram, saying emergency services immediately deployed to the scene and worked to prevent any escalation.
He assured residents that there was no danger to communities in the Omsk district or surrounding localities, despite the initial alarm caused by the blaze.
According to Russia’s state news agency TASS, which cited the regional branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB), the fire erupted during ongoing repair work on the pipeline near the village of Rostovka.

The FSB reported that the blaze was quickly contained, preventing further damage to the line or nearby infrastructure.
Officials added that no casualties were recorded, and specialists are now conducting a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and assess any structural impact on the pipeline system.
