The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the signature forgery allegation made by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, describing it as false and baseless.
BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, stated this in a press statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
Anyanwu had alleged that his signature was forged on a letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the party’s forthcoming elective convention.
Wabara said the BoT would normally avoid commenting on internal administrative matters in public, but the weight of the allegation and its potential to mislead party members and the general public made clarification necessary.

“It is on record that the INEC notification letter was jointly signed by the National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and Senator Anyanwu on August 25, during the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP,” Wabara stated.
He explained that the signing took place in the presence of major party organs and stakeholders, including members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the BoT, and other NEC members who witnessed the process.
Anyanwu inaugurated as convention sub-committee secretary
Wabara further disclosed that after the NEC meeting, Senator Anyanwu was formally inaugurated as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Sub-Committee for the party’s 2025 National Convention.
In that role, Wabara said, Anyanwu co-signed several official documents of the sub-committee alongside its Chairman, Senator Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State.
These included letters of appointment issued to committee members and other official correspondence relating to the national convention.
BoT urges calm among party members
The BoT chairman appealed to PDP members to disregard what he described as a false narrative aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the party.
- He reiterated the BoT’s commitment to maintaining transparency, unity, and due process as preparations continue for the national convention.
