Customs Shortlists 286,697 Applicants for 3,927 Vacancies

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has shortlisted 286,697 candidates out of 573,523 applicants for its ongoing recruitment exercise into 3,927 vacant positions declared in December 2024.

Customs spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage, a Computer-Based Test (CBT) scheduled for September 14 to 21, 2025.

According to the Service, the CBT will be conducted online to ensure transparency and fairness, with candidates required to use laptops or desktop computers with webcams. Phones will not be accepted.

A pre-test session will also hold two days before the main exercise to help candidates familiarise themselves with the system.

Maiwada explained that the test software is sensitive to movement, noise, and window switching, warning that distractions or malpractice may lead to automatic logout or disqualification.

Candidates applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will face an additional CBT in the next phase, unlike those in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

The NCS urged applicants to rely only on official communication channels for updates, stressing that the process is merit-based and free of charge.
